Terma, a defense and technology group based in Aarhus, has doubled its revenue in its space division over the last five years. This impressive growth is attributed to increased European investments in satellite technologies essential for communication, navigation, and military applications, particularly following heightened defense demands stemming from global geopolitical challenges.
With significant orders coming in for up to 100 star trackers at a time, Terma has observed a shift toward larger contracts in the space sector. Mats Warstedt, head of Terma's space division, highlighted that rising demand has been fueled by events like Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and a broader conversation around enhancing Europe’s defense capabilities.
As Terma's space division is expected to constitute over 20 percent of the group's revenue, the company's increased focus on space technology marks a critical development in the interplay between defense and futuristic advancements in this sector.
