Praise for Færevaag After USA Exit: Norway's Answer to Steve Jobs

Digi International has acquired Norwegian Disruptive Technologies for about NOK 1.3 billion. Company leaders and investors pointed to strong growth in the U.S. and said the buyer’s distribution network should help scale the product further; the sale came after a year of renewed momentum and ahead of investments the business would have required to continue growing independently.

U.S. company Digi International has acquired Norwegian sensor maker Disruptive Technologies for roughly NOK 1.3 billion. Board members and investors highlighted that Disruptive Technologies has gained speed in the U.S. market, a development they credit to focused efforts and the company’s leadership under founder Erik Fossum Færevaag.

Those involved said the buyer brings a larger distribution network and the ability to get products to market more broadly. After a period of challenging years, Disruptive Technologies had recently built momentum; the board and investors felt the timing was right for a transaction that would place the company with a strong new owner and address needs for significant future investment.
