Lildog founder buys Folkeinvest remnants, plans cautious relaunch under new model

After Folkeinvest declared bankruptcy in March, serial founder Morten Sæthre purchased remaining assets and says he intends to relaunch the crowdfunding platform with a different revenue model. The effort is early: a new website exists but investments are not open and a licence from Finanstilsynet is required.

Lildog founder Morten Sæthre has bought leftover assets from the collapsed crowdfunding platform Folkeinvest, Shifter reports. Midtnorsk Næringsliv first covered the acquisition in June. Sæthre says he paid roughly 300,000 kroner for the Folkeinvest name, sites, domains and the former platform; Folkeinvest filed for bankruptcy in March after about ten years of operation.

Sæthre tells Shifter he plans to revive Folkeinvest but stresses the project is at an early stage. A new website is live, yet the platform is not open for investments and previous users cannot reactivate accounts. He says a licence from Finanstilsynet is needed and that his law firm will soon submit the application.

He proposes a different business model, with more revenue coming from paying investors who would get extra information, training and community access, rather than mainly from companies paying to raise capital. Sæthre says he will keep his main focus on Lildog and does not intend to run Folkeinvest day‑to‑day; he cites the new EU/EØS crowdfunding rules effective 1 August as a reason the timing could work.
