Finland's inward foreign direct investment stock reached EUR 92.5 billion at the end of 2025, an increase of EUR 9.8 billion during the year, according to Statistics Finland. The agency says net financial transactions accounted for EUR 8.4 billion of inward investment. These figures cover the wider economy rather than funding raised by Finnish startups.
Business Finland's separate project tracking counted 527 foreign-company investment projects in 2025, which was 160 more than the year before. It described activity across digitalisation, clean transition, health services and industry. Statistics Finland recorded a net EUR 2.6 billion inflow to information and communications businesses, with data-centre investments contributing to the sector's growth.
Despite the increase, Business Finland says Finland trails other Nordic countries in foreign investment relative to GDP, the number of foreign-owned companies and their employment. Its release says foreign-owned businesses represent 1% of companies but employ 23% of private-sector workers and pay 22% of corporate income tax. The project count and investment stock are different measures.
