Femtech Norway launched during Trondheim Tech Festival as a national initiative focused on women's health technology. The initiative aims to bring founders, researchers, investors, healthcare organisations and businesses into closer contact. It will operate under Health Tech Arena for Innovation in Trondheim and work with existing startup and health technology communities across Norway.
Organisers say the initiative is intended to shorten the path from research and promising ideas to investment, commercialisation and use in healthcare. Femtech Norway plans to build networks, meeting places and activities that connect people working in women's health across the country. The launch also includes a Femtech Lounge at the Trondheim festival.
Sparebank 1 Midt-Norge has committed NOK 800,000 to the new initiative, according to Shifter. Its organisers describe this as a long-term effort and expect to use a mix of partnerships, business support, public funding instruments and project financing as activities develop.
