Bergen-based Birdsview has secured NOK 40.5 million to expand its technology for inspecting concrete structures. Shifter reports that about NOK 36 million comes from an investment round and NOK 4.5 million from Innovation Norway for an innovation project. The total therefore combines investment and public support rather than representing a single equity round.
Investors named in the round include Norway's Sarsia, Finland's Butterfly Ventures, Kiilto Ventures, Nordic Makers, Proptechfonden and Momentum. Existing backers also participated, according to the company. Birdsview says the money will support commercial, industrial and international expansion.
Birdsview combines sensors and AI to examine and visualise reinforcement and conditions inside concrete structures. Chief executive Olav Skogen says customers in nine countries had chosen its Birdsview Concrete product within weeks of launch; that is a company-reported adoption figure. The company began by developing scanning technology for wooden utility poles before adapting it to concrete.
