Aker-owned Nscale said in a stock-exchange announcement that it has signed a contract to deliver AI compute in the United States over the next six years, a deal the company values at about NOK 420 billion. The filing specifies delivery from Nscale’s Monarch data‑centre in West Virginia.
TechCrunch, citing a source, and Bloomberg both report the buyer is AI firm Anthropic. TechCrunch further reported that Nscale’s supply would use Nvidia’s Vera Rubin chip system.
Shifter notes that earlier in August Anthropic signed a separate $10 billion, six-year agreement with AI startup Volta for cloud compute from a Norwegian data centre. The combination of filings and media reports underscores growing long-term commitments for AI compute capacity.
