Innovasjon Norge expects to reduce its staff after the Norwegian government proposed cutting around NOK 300 million from the agency's programmes. CEO Håkon Haugli told Shifter that the agency is still assessing the proposal's effects. He estimates that staffing may need to fall by fewer than or around 20 people, but hopes to avoid layoffs through natural attrition and targeted measures.
The agency completed an earlier downsizing in June, when more than 100 employees accepted voluntary severance packages. Haugli says reduced funding would also leave entrepreneurs and established businesses with fewer opportunities to carry out projects. The proposal includes ending the environmental technology scheme and offering no new Green Platform call.
